[52] Nina was born in Galloway, TN and moved with her parents to Wickliff, Ky when she was about two years old and then to the Gibbs community (now part of Union City, Obion Co, TN) where she grew up. She attended grammar school in Gibbs and high school in Union City. She and her brothers rode the train to school in Union City. Nina attended Freed-Hardeman College one year and transferred to Murray State College, Murray, Ky where she met and married Preston. She graduated from MSC in 1934. Although she and Preston first met at Murray, they both actually grew up in Obion Co only about seven miles apart. Their marriage was a very interesting social event in Union City. The Union City merchants sponsored their wedding which was held on the stage of the Capitol Theater between features of two movies. The price of admission to the movie and wedding was a can of food which was donated to charity by the theater. The wedding dress, rings, attendants dress, and honeymoon room in the local David Crockett Hotel were provided by the merchants.Nina taught school at Dresden, TN with Preston and at Miller High School, Macon, Georgia after Preston's death for two years. She also worked as a secretary for Preston with the Woodmen of the World until his death. She moved back to Union City in 1964 to be with and care for her aging parents. She continued to live in Union City and substitute teach in the Obion County School system after her parent's deaths. In 1975 she moved to Tullahoma, TN to be near her son as her health was declining where she lived until her death.
